ESPN Rally Monkey Missing In Action

Where Oh Where Did the ESPN Rally Monkey Go?

rally-monkey.gif

There’s a cute little video over at NESW Sports that you have to check out. Well it gave me a bit of a chuckle anyways!

I’m probably partial to the video because the rally monkey is wearing an LA Angel’s shirt and my two oldest boys play baseball both play for the Angels in different divisions of our Little League. Also, this upcoming week are the final games that will decide who goes to playoffs and bracket place and Tournament of Champions. “Believe in the power of the rally monkey!”

Here’s a bit of the excerpt preluding it:

ESPN SportsCenter Commercial, Rally Monkey Gets Fired

ESPN SportsCenter Commercial, Rally Monkey Gets Fired. Sad thing happen during economic troubles. Purse strings get tight. Primates can not keep their jobs. The jobs always go to humans. I feel so sorry for……for the rest of this and the video, please visit www.NeswSports.com.

Bob Costas, Internet Bloggers and Sports

The Newest Breed of Social Sports Media

journalist-7034011.jpg

Bob Costas recently aired a live HBO special of CostasNOW that discussed in detail how the new era of media reports our sports. In segment two of the special, Costas focused on “The Internet and Impact of Bloggers”.

The special included video interviews with Deadspin.com editor Will Leitch as well as Pardon The Interruption host and Washington Post columnist Michael Wilbon, television writer/media critic Michael Schur. There was also a live panel that included Will Leitch, Braylon Edwards of the Cleveland Browns, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger of the famed t.v. show “Friday Night Lights.

If you missed the special airing of CostasNOW, HBO and HBO2 will be showing repeats through the month of May as well as catching it on HBO on Demand.

In relation to this, please check out a really cool spur-of-the-moment interview that Ethan Jaynes from NESW recently had with Bob Costas and Buzz Bissenger in regards to Deadspins Will Lietch. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

New Interview with Bob Costas and Buzz Bissenger, What makes a good writer?

Buzz Bissinger was recently on Costas Now on HBO. They ripped into Deadspins Will Leitch. Costas says he did not know Buzz would be so harsh, but it is obvious that he was a ringer. Costas is on record for not liking blogs. He is also on record for rethinking his stance on blogs. So, he brings in the left-hander Buzz to do his dirty work on his show.

I personally ran into Buzz Bissinger and did an impromptu interview. I call it “My Quest for a Good Sports Writer“. As we talked Bob Costas joined in. This was all a great surprise to me, but I was glad to get the great interview. It started off a little rocky, but then we got into a good debate.

  • Ethan: Old newspaper writer,
  • Buzz: Pulitzer Prize Winning Author.
  • Ethan: Sorry I did not do my research for this interview. What makes a good writer?
  • Buzz: I’m 53.
  • Ethan : What?
  • Buzz: I’m 53, I’m not old
  • Ethan: Well, I can’t just call you “man”.
  • Buzz: You could say Buzz.
  • Ethan: I didn’t know you were called Buzz.
  • Buzz: Well, You didn’t bother to find out did you?
  • Ethan: I did say sorry about the old newspaper writer thing, but from behind…
  • Buzz: What I object to, is you automatically treating me like an equal.
  • Ethan: Well, I am a blogger.

This was just the tip of the interview, for the juiciest part of it please visit NESWSports.com!

Miss California Pageant a Sport?

285misscalifornias120607.jpgMiss California Pageant a sport? Heck yeah -have you seen the competition these chicks have to go through? Also, these glamour chicks are very fit and nowadays are very athletic. And think about this, in sports, people are judged on their athletic ability and the fitness of their body. It takes a bit of athletic ability to walk the pageant runway in stilettos! Beauty Pageants can also be compared to sports because competitors are viewed by their representative state or country with a sense pride.

Okay, on with the story…………

Today, Christina Silva, the “almost” 2008 Miss California filed a lawsuit against the Miss California Pageant for a monstrous error when she was “accidentally” crowned Miss California during last November’s pageant.

Four days after being crowned Miss California, she was notified that due to human error, she was not the winner after all. Rumor has it that the director of the pageant was more interested in having the all American girl look in the winner and because she is Ecuadoran and Mexican, she didn’t fit the bill. The crown was then handed over to Raquel Beezley who has the majority of Caucasian decent and a quarter Filipino.

The lawsuit is seeking retribution for “public humiliation, mental anguish and distress, lost opportunities, lost prizes and lost monies.” $500,000 in damages is being sought by Silva who feels her civil rights have been violated. State Pageant Director, Keith Lewis stated, “, “We support Christina in her quest to seek the truth,” he said earlier. “At the end of the road, she won’t find an ounce of discrimination, preferential treatment or impropriety. What she will find is simple human error.”

Lewis has stated, “We support Christina in her quest to seek the truth,” he said earlier. “At the end of the road, she won’t find an ounce of discrimination, preferential treatment or impropriety. What she will find is simple human error.”

Friday night, 2008 Miss California Raquel Beezley will be competing for the covenant title of Miss USA in a live show from the town of glitz and glamour Las Vegas.

Good Luck Raquel! (”For it’s root, root, root for the home team“)

Hi everyone - my name is TJ and I’m the boyfriend of the smart, gorgeous, and amazingly wonderful author of this sports blog! I know I know, you’re probably wondering “WHOA what are you doing on here hijacking her territory?!” Well honestly, it’s really plain and simple…

Humor On The Mound….The Baseball Mound That Is!

7039_baseball_mascot_cartoon_character_sitting.jpgTidbit of Humor…..(well to me anyways)

Okay girls.…..If two baseball teams are warming up and you’re asked how many outs are there…..Don’t answer!

During my oldest son’s Little League baseball game today, (Go Angels!) my brother asked me that very question, and…. I fell for it, turned to my boyfriend and asked him the same question to which he chuckled, “oh baby you’re amazing”, which of course just went over my head, and in turn I asked my Dad…so yes…they all had quite a good chuckle at my baseball naiveté! (In my own defense…I was a tad bit confused just for a moment and quite possibly in my own little world!)

Updates…

Sorry all you girls and guys out there that there hasn’t been any “new’ professional sports news for two days. I’ve been learning about web affiliations as well as HTML and CSS codes for the backend of this site!

I’ve also been checking out other sites to link to; working up the nerve to soon ask for reciprocal links!

Super Bowl 2008 Brings End To Football Season

So it seems I’ve been on hiatus in what seems like forever and I am finally back. Not to rehash old sports news, and as the whole world should know by now, the New England Patriots did not end up winning Super Bowl 2008 afterall; The New York Giants did - and Congrats to them! (Nothing against Patriot fans, just have to give props when due).

I have to make a quick mention that this year was the first time I have ever actually watched an entire Super Bowl! And ya know what, it was actually very exciting to me, even though 99% of the plays were foreign to me, with my boyfriend by my side (who actually took the time to explain things to me in ways I could actually understand) it made it a little easier to watch.  Even my Mom who had spent Super Bowl Sunday at a gathering at my sister’s (a loyal Chargers Fan) watched the entire game too.

Now that football season is over, its will be time to report on current sports news like baseball and basketball!  Oh and of course a sport for all seasons - Poker!

What’s up with (Chicks) in the title tagline?

You get the Sports, You get the Poker, But why the Chicks in the tagline? Obviously Hot babes are synonymous with the appeal of sports (cheerleaders, bikini babes, etc.) but instead of taking offense to your guy either outwardly or inwardly enjoying these side benefits of sports – think about this – Have you ever taken a look at some of the Hot Guys playing these Sports, i.e. Tom Brady.

So the next time that little tinge of “jealousy” comes up – focus on those hottie guys of sports and trust me – those sideline chicks will mean nothing to you after awhile! Who says girls can’t have their eye candy too!

So in all fairness to both guys and girls – this site will not only side feature hot chicks but hot guys too.

Oh No! Not Another Sports Blog

You’re probably thinking, oh no, not another site about sports, but ya know what - this one is going to be different, it’s by a girl (me!) who knows a whole lotta nothing (or do I?) about sports, but definitely knows how to report on it!

We all know how to keep our guy happy in the bedroom (hopefully anyways!) but how about all those other times….like when he’s watching ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports, FSNPT, etc., or at a sports bar, or on a weekend when he wants to play “ball” with the guys. Hopefully this “Guide to Sports” will not only keep the interest of all the guys out there, but in the process will help all you girls out there to gain a better understanding of sports and ultimately help you connect better with your guy!
