Scott Dixon Wins Indianapolis 500!

With Help From His Crew, Scott Dixon Scores His First Indy 500 Victory.

Scott Dixon drove a great race on Sunday, but I have to say I was really hoping Danica Patrick would win the race. She was definitely robbed out of at least placing in the Indy 500. Danica was unable to finish for the first time since she has driven the Indy.

With only 29 laps to go, Ryan Briscoe clipped her car and left her with a broken left rear suspension. Crowd-favorite Patrick was unable to make a good run for the lead because of problems with her car. For much of the race she continually complained to her crew over the radio about how it was handling.

The race was full of crashes and mechanical failures with the bright yellow caution flag being waved eight times throughout the 69 lap race. However that didn’t seem to be much of a deterrent for Scott Dixon. During the final round of stops, Dixon raced ahead of Vitor Meira out of the pits and steadily held off Marco Andretti. Meira ended up finishing the race as runner-up finishing 1.75 seconds behind.

In an exciting finish to the challenging race, Dixon’s spotter yelled over the radio to Dixon, “You’re clear now” and with Dixon having only two more turns to go, his spotter said, “Bring it home! Bring it home!”

Bring it home was exactly what Scott Dixon did! He was clearly at the advantage with the strongest car.

Danica Patrick - First Chick Winner in Indy Car Race History!

Danica Patrick wins Indy Japan 300

Let’s hear it for the girls! Danica Patrick is the first chick winner in Indy Car race history. She raced in the Indy Japan 300 last weekend - and WON! In an almost neck and neck race against race leader Helio Castroneves (poor Helio, this is going to be a hard one to live down - beaten by a chick!).

Teary-eyed Patrick gained so much praise from fans, her owner and especially her family; it was an emotional day that will be remembered in history forever. Michael Andretti, co-owner of Andretti Green Racing, thinks that Danica is a “fantastic person.” He went on to say that “We have all believed in her and she proved today that she is a winner. Frankly, I think this is the first of many.”

Danica’s victory at the Indy Japan 300 is proof that she has what it takes to be a credible racer. The last few years in auto racing, she has overcome so much to be where is she is now – among the leaders and the champions in this field. In this “man’s world” of auto racing, she had been dealt a tough hand and handled it with grace. I mean come on, there has been so much pressure put upon her, not to mention the immaturity of name calling she had to endure. The Indy 500 in 2005 would have probably had Patrick as the winner if not for that pesky problem of fuel shortage.

It was pretty cool that Danica Patrick gave props to her team engineer Kyle Moyer for his role in her amazing win.

This race car chick proves she is here for the long-haul and that she’s a force to be reckoned with on the track. Danica not only a hot chick but she’s hot on the race track!

Sport Tidbits:

Danica Patrick has raced 50 races during the past four years. Twenty-five of the races were top ten’s and three of those races were top threes!
